Many times when you decide to replace or tighten down a kitchen sink faucet in an older home with an arborite countertop you will run into a problem. When you have a look under the sink you will find the wood under the arborite has simply rotted away from years of water leaking under the tap itself. Now you know why the faucet was so loose and the problem is there is nothing to secure the new faucet to and/or no way to tighten up the existing one. In most instances the tailpieces on faucets are not threaded up far enough for you to tighten the nut onto the sink itself. Although you can work around that by adding washers for shims the faucet will still not be solid as the stainless steel sink itself is somewhat flexible. This product will save you a lot of time and frustration. It may be used for both repair of an existing faucet or installation of a new one. These plates may also be used when the holes through the countertop are oversize or irregular. The advantage when using it for an existing faucet is you do not have to disconnect the waterlines because of the slots rather than simply holes in the plate. Just loosen the tap slightly and you can slide the plate between what is left of the deck and the tailpiece nuts and tighten the faucet down.
